Has JWST Already Falsified Dark-matter-driven Galaxy Formation?

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) discovered several luminous high-redshift galaxy candidates with stellar masses of $M_{*} \gtrsim 10^{9} \, \rm{M_{\odot}}$ at photometric redshifts $z_{\mathrm{phot}} 10$ which allows to constrain and structure formation models. For example, Adams et al. identified the candidate ID 1514 $\log_{10}(M_{*}/M_{\odot}) = {9.8}_{-0.2}^{+0.2}$ located 9.85_{-0.12}^{+0.18}$ Naidu found even more distant labeled as GL-z11 GL-z13 9.4_{-0.3}^{+0.3}$ $z_{\mathrm{phot}}=10.9_{-0.4}^{+0.5}$ 9.0_{-0.4}^{+0.3}$ 13.1_{-0.7}^{+0.8}$, respectively. Assessing computations IllustrisTNG (TNG50-1 TNG100-1) EAGLE projects, we investigate if mass buildup predicted by $\Lambda$CDM paradigm is consistent these observations assuming that early JWST calibration correct are indeed $z 10$. Galaxies formed in than an order magnitude less massive stars observed implying efficient Universe This turn would suggest enhanced framework. We show different star histories could reduce alleviating tension. Finally, calculate galaxy-wide initial function (gwIMF) integrated IMF theory. gwIMF becomes top-heavy for metal-poor starforming galaxies decreasing therewith compared invariant canonical IMF.
